Research Data Storage Systems

ARCC provides data storage services for research-based workflows as a core service. At present, ARCC has two main types of storage services, Alcova and S3. There are differences between each service and are listed below.

• Alcova

  Alcova is ARCC's traditional data storage system. It offers the abiltiy to "drag-and-drop" files onto a nightly-backed up storage server while connected to a UWyo network.

  S3 (named after the protocol it supports) is ARCC's on-premises cloud-like storage system. It offers the ability to use web-based protocols to work with datasets.
