Alcova

ARCC’s primary research data storage service for University of Wyoming researchers and their collaborators is provided by Vast and serves the dual purpose of both providing the high performance back-end storage for the MedicineBow HPC system as well as the Alcova data storage solution for researchers needing a centralized data repository for ongoing research projects. This page only describes ARCC's Alcova service.
The Alcova space is intended to be a collaborative data storage space with interactive data access. Meaning, researchers can open a file from their file browser, make edits with the software on their computer, and save it without the need download and re-upload files.
Daily backups
Alcova is backed up nightly to a separate storage system. Additionally, Alcova has 20 days worth of data snapshots will help recover from recent accidental data loss. Since ARCC does take these precautions, there is a cost for this service beyond the default quota detailed below.
Cost
Alcova is FREE for UWyo Researchers to use. However, this free quota is limited to default allocation quota. For current information on how much free space is provided, please see the ARCC Data Storage Policies
