Getting Started on S3
This page discusses the steps to get started on using ARCC's S3 service.
Assumption
This guide assumes that the intended use for this service is approved by ARCC.
Project Request Form
In order to request access to ARCC's S3 service, please use ARCC's standard project request form, but then in the description, please make some sort of indication that this is the service you are requesting.
Initial Access Key and Secret Key Delivery
Once the project is approved, ARCC will reply to the project request form with a temporary URL link that will only be active for a few days. It is the researcher's responsibility to save these. These keys will be used for making the connection to the new bucket.
Bucket Defaults
Each new S3 project request will have a single bucket created by ARCC. Researchers can create one more additional bucket using the initial Access Key and Secret Key given by ARCC. For a total of two (2) buckets total by default.
If more buckets are needed, please request ARCC to enable the ability to create more buckets.
Connecting and Transferring Data
Please see the connecting to S3 page for a list of S3 enabled clients and programming packages.
