Using HPC Software
Software applications on HPC systems work quite differently than on a person's personal laptop or desktop. Instead of going to an "app store" or clicking a download button on a web page like a person would on their laptop to find what software is needed to in research workflows, there are different methodologies for using or installing software on HPC systems.

The Module System
On ARCC's HPC systems, we manage a small list of ARCC installed Software using the Lmod module system. These documents cover how to find, load, and use ARCC-installed software.

User Installed Software
While only ARCC can use elevated privilages to install software for researchers, regular user accounts can also install software with a variety of methods on ARCC's HPC systems.
